Section 6220 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 (the REAL Health Providers Act) was enacted on February 3, 2026. On October 16, 2026 CMS issued proposed rule CMS-4214-P to implement it, proposing directory verification, annual accuracy analysis and reporting beginning in contract year 2028. The rule is proposed, not final.
