Section 6220 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 was signed into law on February 3, 2026. On October 16, 2026 CMS issued proposed rule CMS-4214-P, proposing provider directory verification and maintenance standards, annual accuracy analysis and reporting, public accuracy scores, and enrollee cost-sharing protections beginning in contract year 2028.
